Sunfest back for 44th year in OC
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Live Music, plenty of food and drinks, and of course lots of fun. That’s what you can expect in Ocean City all weekend long.
“This is the 44th annual Sunfest festival here in Ocean City. It goes on every year at the end of September, it’s kind of a nice way to cap off the summer and then start our second season,” explains Brenda Moore, OC’s event coordinator.
What started as a small community event has turned into a staple at the end of the summer for not just residents, but visitors too.
“This is something I look forward to every year. I count the days,” says one festival goer who’s been coming to Sunfest for 43 years.
“We come in a group my sisters and my brother and we all come in a group and have a lot of fun,” says another.
It’s a festival that draws over 200,000 people to the OC inlet every year, rain or shine. A festival that the folks 47 ABC spoke to Friday couldn’t find a bad thing to say about.
“I love the entertainment, I love the food, I meet new people. The people are awesome down here, they’re so nice and I’ve been down here in bad weather, but I still stayed. I love it!”
One festival goer says, “Just the fun, the food, the entertainment, you know, there’s just something for everyone. Hayrides for the kids, treasure hunters it’s a nice family event.”
It also gives an extra boost to all the local businesses gearing up for the end of summer.
Moore adds, “They’ll come to our restaurants after the event or they come to town and stay in all the hotels here so it really does extend the season.”
And for those that haven’t made the trip to OC yet.
“If you’re not here come on down because there’s plenty of people but there’s still plenty of room and plenty of food.”
