Salisbury University invests in downtown
SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury University is making progress in their efforts to integrate themselves into the downtown area.
The Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative has moved into a building located on the downtown plaza.
GIS stands for geographic information systems.
The cooperative works with local governments and private companies to provide them with mapping and visualization services, and it also gives students real world experience to start their careers.
One example is a map of Salisbury for the year 2050 that predicts where the water levels will be.
The director of the co-op told us there is no place they’d rather be to do this type of work.
Michael Scott, the Director of ESRGC said, “Our work force loves to be downtown next to all of the services that are here…and then for us it’s just a tremendous space from which to work and so it’s a great space so we can get our work done.”
Salisbury University will also be moving their Center for Entrepreneurship downtown in the year 2020.
