Salisbury man arrested on burglary and weapon charges
DELMAR, Del. – A Salisbury man has been arrested by Delaware State Police following a reported burglary and assault incident.
On Tuesday, September 4th, just before 11 AM, troopers were called to respond to the 12000 block of Line Road for a reported assault. Before arriving at the scene, troopers learned that a 65-year-old male victim was being transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
When officers arrived at the hospital, the victim reported that an acquaintance of his, 66-year-old William D. Betts, entered his residence unannounced and began arguing with him and threatening to kill him.
Shortly after, Betts left the home and entered the victim’s detached garage. Betts reportedly grabbed a crowbar and screwdriver from the garage and went back inside the residence, hitting the victim on the head with the crowbar and continuing to threaten him with the screwdriver, before eventually leaving the scene.
Betts turned himself in to Delaware State Police on Wednesday, September 26th, facing numerous charges. He was arraigned and released on $58,100 unsecured bond.
