Salisbury man arrested for theft and destruction of property

DELMAR, Md. – A Salisbury man has been arrested on destruction of property and theft charges.
At approximately 4:45 PM on September 12th, a deputy was called to respond to a report of a subject stuck in a field at the 9000 block of Rum Ridge Road, in Delmar. When the deputy arrived, they discovered that 31-year-old Taylor Rogers had driven off-road into the field in a Toyota Camry and had continued to drive erratically through the field until he became stuck in the mud. The responding deputy also noted numerous ruts cut in the field by Rogers as he drove through it.
A tow truck had to be called to assist with the remover of Rogers’ vehicle, which ended up requiring special equipment and substantial effort. Due to the length of time this process took, the deputy had to leave the scene to handle other calls for service.
The deputy later learned that Rogers drove away without paying the tow bill, right after he was informed of how much it was. They then responded to Rogers’ home address, finding him and making a custodial arrest for the damage to private property and stiffing the tow truck driver on the bill.
Rogers was taken to the Central Booking Unit, where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. He was charged with malicious destruction of property less than $1000, and theft less than $1500. After an initial appearance, Rogers was released on personal recognizance.
