Recall Alert: Ground meat, E. coli contamination
One person is dead after consuming contaminated ground meat
Just over 132,000 pounds of ground meat is being recalled because of a deadly E. coli outbreak, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The company that distributes the ground meat is Cargill Meat Solutions, based in Colorado. The USDA said on Thursday that the meat was shipped to stores nationwide. Officials say so far, one person has died and 18 people have gotten sick because of these ground meat products.
The affected items, totaling approximately 132,606 pounds, were produced June 21. The USDA inspection mark on the package says “EST. 86R” inside.
