Online tool available for residents to know their evacuation zones

SALISBURY, Md. – As we continue to monitor the hurricane, emergency officials also want you to know about a tool that can tell you your evacuation zone. It’s called Know Your Zone. It’s an interactive map that’s designed to make evacuations easier. On the computer or mobile device, you can use the color-coded interactive map to determine which storm evacuation zone you live in based upon your street address. Officials say knowing your zone will help you avoid unnecessary evacuation travel, while also easing overcrowding at local storm shelters.

“It’s a precautionary measure it’s an easy way to know your zone, to know where you are if in fact something were to happen and we can say zone A instead of going off of 15 different streets or whatever, we can say zone A needs to be evacuated zone B, zone C ,” said Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver.
