New app introduced to help visitors with transportation

With tens of thousands of people coming to the City of Salisbury, travel will be a bit of a challenge.

But the city is hoping to alleviate some of that with a new app coming to the area, called Gotcha.

The app is a ride sharing device for bikes, scooters and e-cars.

The city is using the Folk Festival to get the word out about Gotcha, offering free rides in its e-car.  The hope is the app will continue to grow long after the Folk Festival is gone and provide another mode of transportation.

“The success rate is they continue to expand in the market.  So, they’re seeing success in it.  We reached out to them, they’re excited to come to us.  They’re looking to do a pilot program with us and then continue to expand it,” said Andy Kitzrow, Deputy City Administrator.

Eventually the city hopes to have 200 bikes, 50 to 100 scooters and a few cars.  Officials tell 47ABC they hope to meet these goals by the early fall.
