MSP investigate fatal car accident

MADISON, Md.- Maryland State Police are investigating the cause of a fatal accident that happen Friday afternoon.
Reportedly at 4:07 p.m. a 1999 Mercury station wagon was heading down Route 16.
Investigators say the front passenger, James Dougherty, 59, grabbed the steering wheel and caused the driver, 18 year old Rebecca Dougherty to lose control. The car then exited the road and overturned into a water filled drainage ditch.
We’re told all occupants in the car were trapped. When officials were able to get them out, it was discovered that the driver was deceased.
Three passengers including a juvenile were taken to Dorchester General Hospital, where they were treated and released.
An investigation is ongoing.
