Mother sentenced after using her child during Va. burglary

NEW CHURCH, Va.  – A woman was sentenced to time in jail after she used her child as an accomplice in an Accomack County burglary.

The Commonwealth Attorney for Accomack County says on August 30, Gabrielle Lynn Kromer was sentenced to 45 days in jail on charges of burglary, grand larceny, and child endangerment. The charges stem from an incident that happened at Simply Storage of Delmarva in New Church. She was convicted for her role in the burglary back in March.

In May 2017, Kromer visited her friend, an employee of the facility, at work. Kromer later returned to the facility where she gained entry through a back window. Authorities say she placed her 5-year-old child in the window and told the child to unlock the door for her.

Kromer’s formal sentence is 3 years on each charge with all but 15 days suspended on each (45 days). Her sentence includes payment of restitution by 2019 and supervised probation (end date not determined). She must also maintain good behavior for 10 years.
