Millsboro hopes to add surveillance cameras downtown
MILLSBORO, Del. – In Millsboro, the town is hoping to step up their security measures by adding security cameras in the Main Street area. This is all apart of the town’s revitalization effort for downtown.
Millsboro Police Department has applied for a $32,000 grant for a new surveillance system through the state of Delaware.
If approved, the town will place three to six cameras at local businesses. We’re told the grant should be approved on September 24th.
Sgt. Barry Wheatley tells 47 ABC, “As officers, I believe it gives me an extra set of eyes. An officer tries to be everywhere at once, but we can’t always do that. These cameras give us the ability to be places that we aren’t physically there.”
If everything goes as planned, Millsboro PD should have the cameras up and running by Christmas.
