MDOT seeks input for projects to fund in Wicomico County

MDOT is currently touring the state discussing infrastructure needs for different jurisdictions, and Thursday night the focus was on Wicomico County.

Priorities named by local officials at the meeting at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center were the four laning of route 404 and the expansion of route 113.

One project that was named as high priority was the Salisbury Airport.  Officials hope to receive the necessary funds to expand to accommodate larger commercial planes, as well as the prospect of FEMA using the airport for emergency needs.

“It’s a great opportunity for MDOT to keep a finger on the pulse of Marylanders, and what they want and its important to know what every county in the state is looking for,” said Pete Rahn, the secretary for MDOT.

Following this meeting MDOT will now prepare a draft proposal, and once they tour the 24 maryland jurisdictions a final proposal will be completed.  That proposal will go before the legislature in January and funds will be appropriated to projects across the state.
