MD: New regulations for lawn fertilizer use to take effect in October

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – In Maryland, the state’s department of agriculture announced that new regulations regarding the use of fertilizer products will take effect in less than a month. The announcement comes as a result of changes made to Maryland’s Lawn Fertilizer Law during the 2018 legislative session. Starting on October 1st, the changes make regulations for organic fertilizer products consistent with synthetic products.  Officials say this new regulation will remove the requirement that organic fertilizer products be low phosphate, giving lawn care professionals more choices in the products that they can use.
