Mandatory evacuation order for Coastal Virginia lifted
VIRGINIA – Governor Ralph Northam has lifted the mandatory evacuation order for residents of Virginia’s coastal areas.
As of 11 AM Friday, the evacuation order is no longer in effect for residents in Zone A of Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore, Northern Neck, and Middle Peninsula. This follows the National Weather Service cancellation of the tropical storm warning for coastal Virginia.
Citizens are urged to use caution when traveling home, and check road conditions beforehand by calling 511, or logging onto www.511Virginia.org.
