Ground broken on new Easton Elementary School
EASTON, Md. – Talbot County Public Schools, along with officials from across the region, broke ground on the brand new elementary school Wednesday afternoon in Easton.
The facility will be a state-of-the-art 128,000 square foot facility that can fit 1,167 students from Pre-K to 5th grade.
During our meeting with school leaders, we learned that there will be a little something for everyone, including reminders of the two old buildings that will be replaced.
Officials say they have plans to construct a memorial garden for the two men the original buildings were named for.
“It’s certainly going to be exciting for the Easton elementary community. They’ve been dealing with some aging buildings. And that’s something that this new buildings obviously going to remedy,” said plan operations and maintenance manager Kevin Shafer.
Construction is scheduled to begin on October 1. We’re told the plan is to move into the new building in March 2020.
