Drinking rules for National Folk Festival

SALISBURY, Md. – Rain or shine, the National Folk Festival will be up and running in a few days. If you plan on going, there are several things you need to know when it comes to enjoying some adult beverages.

For starters, you cannot bring any outside coolers or alcohol into the venue.

But don’t worry, there will be full service bars at three of the seven stages. You’ll need to get a wristband in order to drink, but those will be at the three stages.

Once you get that, you’ll be free to walk around and enjoy your drinks as long as you are in the festival perimeters.

Jamie Heater, the volunteer beer coordinator says, “Once you exit the festival perimeters, which will be very clearly, marked, and obvious that you are exiting; you’ll see signs that say no more alcohol beyond this point. Once you choose to do so, you will then be having a open container, which is illegal, so we need to keep that inside the festival.”

As for selections at the bar, they’ll have wine and beer. They’ll have local favorites such as wine from Layton’s Chance and beer from Evolution Craft Brewery.
