Dr. Reba Ross Hollingsworth honored at 37th Women’s Hall of Fame induction
DOVER, Del. – Thursday was the 37th annual induction ceremony for Delaware’s Women’s Hall of Fame.
47 ABC is told that 4 influential women who have made strides in the community were honored for their achievements. Among those four leading ladies, 92 year-old Dr. Reba Ross Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth, a retired educator and civil rights activist, tells 47 ABC she’s honored to receive this recognition.
She grew up in Milford, and says she would commute to a Dover high school because the school in her hometown didn’t allow “colored” students at the time.
Hollingworth says the key to her success is a positive attitude and never accepting defeat.
Dr. Hollingsworth said,”If I allowed myself I’d feel like a celebrity it’s really something. All along I’ve been striving toward the goal to do better.”
Dr. Jill Biden, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, and former Smyrna Superintendent Deborah Wicks were also inducted during the ceremony at the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino.
