Dover man sentenced to 30 years in prison for attempted rape

DOVER, Del. – A Dover man has pled guilty for attempting to rape a woman while her children were present in the residence.

The incident took place in March 2018, when 34-year-old Tyree Lockett tried to rape his ex-girlfriend’s roommate as she slept, her children present in the apartment at the time. When the victim woke up, Lockett reportedly physically assaulted her while she attemped to escape.

Lockett pled guilty to attempted rape first degree and two (2) counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, followed by one year of work release, then three years of probation. Lockett also must register as a Tier 3 sex offender.
