Delaware State Police hosting Citizens Police Academy

DELAWARE – Applications are now open for the Fall/Winter 2018 Citizens Police Academy in Sussex County.

The academy will take place on Thursday evenings from 5 PM to 8 PM, beginning on October 25th. The academy will wrap up on January 10th, 2019. Most classes will take place at the Delaware State Police Sussex County Emergency Operations Center, which is located at 21911 Rudder Lane in Georgetown.

Instruction will include criminal and traffic investigations, special units, and other various topics pertaining to law enforcement. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about police activities typically experienced by a Delaware trooper, and even have the chance to ride with troopers.

Class size is limited to 20 participants, and all applicants will undergo a background check.

Deadline for registration is October 18th. Applications returned after that date will not be processed.
