Del. man facing vehicular assault charges following crash

MILLSBORO, Del. – Delaware State Police have charged a Millsboro man following a crash that happened during the early morning hours on Friday.

At around 3 AM, troopers were called to respond to the area of Millsboro Highway and Godwin School Road for a reported crash.

When officers arrived, they discovered that a 2016 BMW was reportedly heading eastbound on Millsboro Highway when it failed to stay in its lane, entering the westbound lane and striking a 2009 Nissan Altima head on.

Officers detected the scent of alcohol on contact with the driver of the BMW, 31-year-old Lamar Finney, and subsequently began a DUI investigation.

The driver of the Altima, a 24-year-old male from Laurel, and a passenger, an 18-year-old female from Millsboro, were taken to Beebe Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Finney was taken to Troop 4 and charged with two counts of first degree vehicular assault, driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, failure to transfer title and registration, and failure to remain within a single lane.
