Del. man facing additional sexual assault charges

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Delaware State Police have arrested a Georgetown man on six additional counts of second degree rape.

Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit initiated an investigation after a 20-year-old female reported that she was sexually assaulted at Georgetown residence on June 20th of this year.

22-year-old Clay Conaway was identified as the suspect in that incident.

On August 22nd, Conaway was taken into custody and transported to Troop 4 on a warrant stemming from an August 20th indictment for first degree rape. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute on $70,000 secured bond.

Since his arrest, five additional victims have been identified, all stating they were sexually assaulted by Conaway. Two victims reported that Conaway assaulted them back in 2013. One case reportedly took place in 2017, with two additional incidents occurring in 2018.

On September 24th, Conaway was indicted on six counts of second degree rape involving five separate incidents. He is scheduled to appear in court again on October 1st.
