SALISBURY, Md. –  Dozens of people came together to celebrating Haitian heritage on Sunday.

The Haitian American Organization Advancement of Democracy, or  HAOAD created the event.

The cultural extravaganza highlights unique Haitian heritage by showcasing unique art and crafts.

Officials say its more than just showing off their culture; its about strengthening the environment in Wicomico County, allowing the Haitian community to develop a better relationship with non-Haitian residents.

By promoting Haitian culture on the Eastern Shore, the executive chairman tells 47 ABC it opens up new opportunities.

Pierre Medina said, “Its really important to see how we can bring the communities together. We want to activate our community, our entrepreneurs, and see how we can bring more investment.”
