City celebrates 231 years showing off downtown

Milford was painting the town maroon and gold Thursday night to celebrate its 231st birthday.

The brushes and buckets were just a small part of the larger third Thursday festivities, which is a celebration put on by Downtown Milford Inc., that urges businesses to stay open late in order to help the town show off.

During the night there was singing, dancing and plenty of food, all of it well received by the people who call Milford home.

The next big event is this Saturday, and that one is known as the lady bug festival where 40 female musicians perform at 16 venues throughout the town.
