Caroline County man arrested in connection to multiple theft incidents
DENTON, Md. – A Preston man is facing charges for theft and malicious destruction of property.
On September 21st, Caroline County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to respond to 101 Gay Street, in Denton, for a report of malicious destruction of property and theft to an unmarked police vehicle.
Sheriff’s deputies discovered two passenger side windows and the rear hatch window broken out of a 2017 blue Ford Explorer Police vehicle. Multiple police related items were stolen out of the unmarked police car, including a Stalker II Radar Unit, Nikon D5500 Digital Camera, leather notebook, roll of crime scene tape, and $36 cash.
A second vehicle was found in the Walmart parking lot, located at 610 Legion Rd, with a broken drivers side rear and back hatch window. A black purse that contained numerous credit cards and $100 cash was stolen from the vehicle.
After further investigation, 19-year-old Scott Allen Wiens was identified as the suspect and arrested. He is currently being held at the Caroline County Detention Center on $10,000 full bond.
Wiens was also reportedly involved in several other similar incidents within Talbot and Dorchester counties between September 20th and 21st.
