Assateague State Park reopens

ASSATEAGUE ISLAND, Md.- – Assateague State Park  opened back up today, after realizing the shore would not be directly struck by the tropical storm.

Earlier this week, the park was set to be closed until Monday. But now, officials with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources are asking visitors to still be mindful of the high surf advisory and high risk of rip currents.

We’re told Swimming will not be permitted over the weekend and during the high tide cycle.

Although beach access may be limited, that’s not stopping visitors from exploring the grounds and enjoying all that Assateague has to offer.

“We had some mists which wasn’t too bad, but as far as the rain we didn’t get wet at all . So we’re having a good time and even if it was raining, we’re still gonna have a good time,” says Jerry a visitor here for Bike Week.
