Annual Magi Choral Festival ending 25 year run
SALISBURY, Md. – After a 25 year run, the Magi Choral Festival, an annual fundraiser for the poor and homeless, will be holding its final performances this November.
The final shows will take place on November 17th and 18th, at the Wicomico High School auditorium. The final show will be entitled “Silver Bells”, to honor the event’s silver anniversary.
“There is a season for everything under heaven,” said Magi Fund chairman Bonnie Luna. “Our all-volunteer committee felt led to bring the annual Choral Festival to a graceful end. It is a massive undertaking that has raised much-needed funds for the Joseph House Center and the Christian Shelter, but there are other ways to do so that are less demanding.”
The Magi Fund itself, however, isn’t going anywhere. This nonprofit donates 100 percent of all money raised through ticket sales and other various contributions to the Joseph House Center and the Christian Shelter.
Luna emphasizes that the Magi Fund will still raise money for both charities, just in different ways.
Since 1994, thousands of local children and adults have performed in the Magi Choral Festival.
According to Luna, the Magi Fund has raised over $1.8 million since the festival begun, and has established a permanent endowment fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.
Tickets for the final performances of the Magi Festival will be available soon. Luna says the event has always sold out in the past, and is sure it will sell out once again this year.
