MILFORD, Del.  – A Delaware woman is facing several counts of endangering the welfare of a child after police say she was arrested in connection with an incident that happened  on a school bus.

The Milford Police Department says on Wednesday, 54-year-old Teresa Grunden, of Houston, was arrested in connection with an investigation of a school bus incident. Police say on May 31, the Milford PD School Resource Officer was notified by a parent about alleged actions by the driver during a ride home from school. After further investigation, authorities say the driver pulled the bus over near Airport Road and closed the windows and ceiling air vents which caused the temperature in the bus to rise.

According to the report, this action resulted in six students reporting heat related symptoms to parents as they arrived home. Police say the students ranged in age from 6 to 11 years and the driver’s actions were in response to the students reportedly being too loud.

Law enforcement says the bus was operated by an outside contractor for the Milford School District.

Grunden was charged with six counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Her bail was set at $1,000 unsecured and she was issued no contact orders with the victims.

The 54-year-old is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Family Court on September 17 for an arraignment.
