Wico. Co. Habitat for Humanity provides free clothes to teen girls before school starts

SALISBURY, Md. – With the start of the school year, funds can rack up purchasing school supplies and a new wardrobe left and right. To ease the financial strain just a bit, one organization in Salisbury has opened up their doors to give parents some relief.

Habitat for Humanity in Wicomico County knows how expensive it can get at the start of the school year. After receiving a big donation from a chain boutique in Rehoboth, they’ve switched from building houses to building the ideal outfit. They were able to donate free clothes to 80 girls. From shoes, to dresses, to accessories, the girls had a chance to pick several items.

One parent, Danielle Thomas tells 47 ABC, “Anything that can help, especially when you’re on a budget and you’re paying bills and bills are your priority.”

But it’s more than just some free outfits. It’s a way to build some self esteem.

47 ABC spoke to several teen girls who said these stylish items boosts their ego and makes them feel good.

More than anything, this effort is giving more than clothes. It’s giving girls and parents a reason to smile.

Since they didn’t run out Wednesday, they will have their doors open for teens to come in and get some free clothes Thursday.
