Town Commissioner charged after allegedly assaulting woman
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – A Princess Anne Town Commissioner is facing serious charges after a pregnant woman claimed he assaulted her and held her and one-year-old child against their will.
According to Somerset County District Court documents, 27-year-old Lionel Frederick was arrested in connection with an alleged assault. Court documents show that the incident allegedly involving the recently re-elected Princess Anne Town Commissioner happened on Tuesday.
In the 21-year-old victim’s statement to police, she claims an argument began between her and Frederick and that he told her to pack her things and leave. However as she was trying to leave with her baby in the stroller, the woman says Frederick blocked the door telling her she wasn’t leaving until she gave him his cell phone.
The victim, who is five-months pregnant, says Frederick then pulled her hair, held her down and began punching her. The woman goes on to say she was able to get away briefly, but the Frederick pushed her into a chair where he held her down and smacked her.
At some point, the victim said she told Frederick that she would press charges to which he allegedly responded, he would “beat it in court”.
Eventually the victim says she was able to escape to her moms house.
He is charged with assault second degree, reckless endangerment, and false imprisonment. Frederick is scheduled to appear at Somerset District Court on October 1.
On Thursday, outside of the Somerset County District Court, 47ABC asked Frederick about the charges. He said ” No, they’re not true at all. I’m not guilty. I apologize to all of my constituents who have my back.”
