Town celebrates move-in day with UMES students
Princess Anne welcomed their beloved UMES students back with a party Thursday evening with Sumer on Somerset.
The event had music, vendors, and more. The school pharmacy was even on hand to provide information on health issues.
With the university back in session the town almost doubles in size, and businesses we spoke to say they’re glad to have them back.
“It’s great to have lively young students that are here at the university. We’re a really small town and we’re lucky to have an HBCU in our community. We’re proud of the UMES and we’re happy to welcome their students,” said Carrie Samis, the Main Street manager for Princess Anne.
If you missed out on tonight Summer on Somerset will also take place next Thursday night. We’re told this year’s Summer on Somerset has attracted about a thousand extra people into town this summer.
