Somerset Health Dept. offering free immunization clinics

WESTOVER, Md. – In Maryland, students are just a week away from reporting back to school but before they walk through that classroom door, parents need to make sure they’ve gotten their vaccinations.
A task that sometimes isn’t so easy to get accomplished, that’s why the Somerset County Health Department is offering free back to school immunization clinics.
Clinics that will provide all the required vaccinations your kids need before school free of charge.
“All of these immunizations should be provided by pediatricians, I mean local providers should, but what happens sometimes is either the local providers don’t have the vaccine on hand, they don’t have enough of the vaccine or they aren’t scheduling soon enough to get kids vaccinated within that 20 days,” explains Danielle Weber, Nursing Supervisor at Somerset Health Dept.
They will have free clinics this Friday, August 31st from 8:30 am to 12 pm and next week on Sept 7th from 1pm to 5 pm. No appointment is needed but make sure you bring immunization records with you to see what they need.
