Questions left unanswered about humane society executive put on administrative leave

SALISBURY, Md. – Things are relatively quiet at the Wicomico County Humane Society, and that’s because not much is being said about their executive director Aaron Basalmo.
47 ABC confirmed Basalmo is currently administrative leave, but the non-profit hasn’t commented on why that is.
What they have said is that while their executive director is gone, Kevin Usilton the director of the First State Animal Center and SPCA in Delaware will be filling in on an interim basis.
For Basalmo who has been with the Humane Society since March of 2016, the job has already placed him in charge of two big cases of alleged animal abuse.
The Eden puppy mill case in 2016 where over 300 dogs were rescued as well as the Quantico horse farm case where more than two dozen horses were found dead.
Both of those cases are still pending in court.
47 ABC also reached out to the board of directors for the Wicomico County Humane Society but no calls were returned.
