Police: Rabid animal verified in Worcester Co.

BERLIN, Md.  – Police say health officials have verified that a fox was infected with rabies in Berlin.

The Berlin Police Department says on Tuesday, a fox with rabies virus was reported in the area of Thomas Court. On Wednesday, police say the Worcester County Health Department has verified that the fox was infected with rabies.

According to authorities, the animal was reported to have been in a garage, in rear yards, and seen attempting to interact with dogs over the weekend.

Officials advise residents of the Powell Circle and Thomas Court neighborhood to pay close attention to their pets for possible rabies exposure and to report any fox sighting the area.
