Local police gear up for influx of SU students

SALISBURY, Md. -With hundreds of students starting to move on to Salisbury University’s campus, Salisbury Police Department is gearing up for yet another school year.

They say with all the students in town, they don’t change how they patrol the city instead they team up with campus police to handle the increase in calls.

“We hope our meetings prior to school staring will kind of alleviate some of those call for services and give them a little education on what to expect if they’re at a party or if they’re a victim of a crime and how to act if they’re a victim and how not to be a victim of a crime,” explains Capt. Rich Kaiser of Salisbury PD.

He adds that they are constantly in conversations with Salisbury University’s Police Department throughout the school year to make sure campus and the surrounding areas are being monitored.
