Kent County man arrested after allegedly endangering the welfare of a child
HARRINGTON, Del. – A man was arrested after police say he put medications in a child’s drink in Delaware.
The Harrington Police Department says on Tuesday, Jack Baull III of Harrington was arrested after police say they were called to an overdose complaint. Police say on August 19, officers were contacted by Milford Memorial Hospital reporting that there was a 5-year-old child at the hospital who possibly ingested unknown medications. Once on scene, police say they encountered the victim and the victim’s mother who brought the victim to the hospital for treatment.
According to the report, the child was staying at a Commerce Street residence and was being watched by Baull, while family members were at work. Authorities report that Baull crushed up medications and put them in the victim’s drink in an attempt to get the victim to go to sleep. Harrington PD determined that this happened on more that one occasion.
Law enforcement says the 25-year-old turned himself in to police and he was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Officers report that the victim was treated a released from the hospital.
The Harrington man was later released on $2,000 unsecured bond.
