EASTON, Md -This is a reality Cpl. Lenox Trams didn’t think he’d have to live through again. Preparing for his second of four daily dialysis treatments of the day.

“It was like a big punch in the gut,” said Trams.

The 20 year Easton police officer was given a second chance at life after one of his co-workers donated her kidney to him back in 2016.

“Having so many people behind me and supporting me saying hey you know is there anything that we can do, how do I to get tested it was so overwhelming just to get the support from the agency,” said Trams.

But with Trams’ new kidney came a risk. In fear that his body would reject the kidney doctors put him on anti-rejection drugs which weakened his immune system. He ended up catching the very rare BK Virus causing irreversible damage to his new kidney.

“I was very disappointed you know you get this second chance at life somebody went to the process to give you a second chance at life so it really hurt more,” he said.

Now, Trams is in need of another kidney and donor. Looking to help once again, The Easton Police Department shared Trams story on their Facebook page which has over 4,000 shares.

“It has been a lot of people who have messaged me and said you know I’ve filled out the application I hope I can donate to you and just to read that from some people I know and some people who are total strangers, that’s amazing,” said Trams.

And although he hasn’t found a match yet, Trams says he’s optimistic that he’ll get a new kidney.

“I’m very hopeful, I’m a very positive person so I think that staying positive really helps your mindset,” said Trams.

Trams says he has a B+ blood type and that a kidney from either a B or O blood type donor has the potential to be a perfect match. If you’re interested in applying to be a donor for Cpl. Trams click  here: https://mgti.donorscreen.org/register/donate-kidney/
