An investigation is ongoing after troopers say a teen was offered a ride home and robbed in Dover.

Delaware State Police say on Tuesday, around 9:00 PM, a 17-year-old was walking home by the basketball courts at Dover Park, on White Oak Road. Troopers say he was approached by two men that were in a white, older model, four door passenger vehicle. Authorities report that the individuals then asked the teen if he needed a ride, at which time he agreed and entered the vehicle.

According to the report, the subjects drove the teen around the Dover area and they refused to drive the 17-year-old home when he asked. Law enforcement says the subjects then stopped the vehicle on McDaniel Drive, north of Edgewood Road, and forced the victim out of the vehicle. DSP says the individuals took a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim's pockets, before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.

This incident remains under investigation by DSP.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to call Troop 3, TFC. C. Solda at 302-697-4454, or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
