DelDOT nearing completion on Dover bridge rehab project

DOVER, Del. – We have a little bit of a traffic alert to pass along to drivers who frequently find themselves along Route 13 in Dover.

You may want to give yourself a little bit more time to get around because DelDOT is hard at work rehabbing the St. Jones River bridge.

It’s a repair and upkeep project that they’ve been working on since February and it cost the state about $1 million. Officials say while there will be delays, it shouldn’t be a problem for an extended period of time.

“We’ve had lane restrictions here over the past several months while the project’s been ongoing. We’re actually hopeful that we will be wrapping up this project in mid September and restoring the full four lanes of traffic so we believe that will be welcomed news to our motorists who are traveling up and down Route 13 around Dover everyday,” explains CR McLeod, DelDOT Spokesperson.

The morning and evening rush is when you can expect the longer delays but DelDOT is asking drivers to just be mindful of the construction zone and the workers that are out there and of course that means you should slow down.
