Day three: Joshua Lankford murder trial

Wednesday marked day three of Joshua Lankford's murder trial.

Joshua Lankford is accused of killing 31-year-old James Joyce and shooting Joyce's mother on December 26th, 2016.

It was yet another long day in the court room Wednesday with only three witnesses taking the stand in front of the jury.

On Tuesday, a cellmate testified Lankford had bragged to him about the murder.

On Wednesday, the jury heard from yet another inmate who testified that Lankford had bragged about the alleged murder and shooting Joyce's mom while he was locked up with him at the Wicomico County Detention Center.

The defense attorney challenged these claims, saying the inmate is lying so that the state will help him with his parole hearing that is coming up in September.

On Wednesday, the jury also heard testimony from a Maryland State Police detective who said that through a search warrant, they found shell casings in Lankford's car that matches those from the crime scene.

We're told the jury will hear key testimony from another witness on Tuesday, August 20th.

That's also when closing statements are expected.
