Blood Bank of Delmarva to host blood and pajama drive for 7-year-old cancer survivor

SALISBURY, Md – On Labor Day,  The Blood Bank of Delmarva will be hosting a blood and pajama drive in honor of a special 7-year-old girl, Josie Herbert, who is currently cancer free. Josie’s family is also asking people who are donating blood to drop off boys and girls pajamas so they can donate them to other kids who are battling cancer at the A.I. duPont Hospital for Children. Her family adds that September is not only childhood cancer awareness month, but Monday also marks the kick off of National Blood Donation Week.

“Its so important, it’s so lifesaving and its so simple of a task to give blood and save somebody else’s life and we just want to do whatever we can to make those kids feel comfortable ,” said Josie Herbert’s mom, Mandy Herbert. The drive is scheduled to take place on Monday from 9 AM until 1 PM at the Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Salisbury.
