Volunteer fireman’s carnival is back to help fund department

The Chincoteague Volunteer Firemans Carnival is back this weekend to serve up summer fun, and raise much needed funds at the same time.
About 4,000 visitors came to enjoy the rides, food, and atmosphere in Chincoteague last year. This event is tradition in the area, an event that raised roughly $450,000 last year.
The proceeds benefit the volunteer fire department, and help to fund the $5 million fire house currently under construction.
"It's everything. It's everything. Look you gave me chills just by asking me that because I'm born and raised here, and economy wise it's everything traditional wise, it's everything, this whole town is built around this," said Chincoteague public relations person Denise Bowden.
If you missed out on the carnival Friday night, you will have plenty of opportunities, including tomorrow night.
