Update: police investigating fatal crash in Milton

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred northbound on Coastal Highway early Saturday morning.

Police identified 66-year old Robert C. Campbell of Harrington.

Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash around Truitt road. State police said the he was not wearing his seatbelt.

It is unknown if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 

Investigators said that his station wagon collided into a tree after veering off its lane and striking a sign post. 

The crash was reported on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at approximately 5:17 a.m. Police shut down one lane of Route 1 northbound in the area while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
