Update: Delaware Police investigate fatal motorcycle crash
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Saturday afternoon west of Laurel.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred around 3:47 PM on Ralph Road east of Waycross Road.
51-year-old Robert Martinson was pronounced dead at the scene after colliding with a tree.
Authorities say he was traveling westbound on his motorcycle when he veered off the road. He traveled into the shoulder after he approached a sharp left curve at a high speed.
Police say he was not wearing a helmet.
Ralph's Road in the area of the crash was closed for about 3.5 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
