A 29-year-old Millsboro man is facing weapons and drug offenses after Delaware State Police say they found a stolen handgun and drug paraphernalia in his car during a traffic stop.

The incident happened at approximately 5:30 AM on Friday when a Trooper performed a traffic stop on a silver Lincoln Town Car on Coastal Highway (SR 1) in the area of Milton.

Upon making contact with the driver who was identified as Ricky D. Waters, police say the Trooper could smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the car.

A subsequent search of the car produced 1.7 grams of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia, as well as an unloaded Hy Hunter 6 shot revolver handgun. Further investigation determined that the handgun had been stolen out of Maryland.

Waters was taken into custody without incident and then transported to Troop 7 where he was arrested and charged with one count each of: Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving with a Suspended License and Failure to Yield the Right of Way.

Waters was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on $6850.00 unsecured bail.
