Tractor pull raises thousands for St. Jude’s

One event that drew a big crowd at the fair Saturday was the tractor pull at the Quillen Arena.

Tractors took turns hauling tons of weight to find out whose tractor had the most power.

This is all part of a nationwide effort to raise money for the St. Jude's Hospital.

We're told this competition raised tens of thousands for the hospital last year.

Funds are raised through a raffle for a brand new tractor that was on display during the fair all week long, and Saturday's tractor pull was not only put on for bragging rights, but as a way to raise awareness and funds for the cause.

"We've been challenged by people in Wisconsin, people in Ohio," said local farmer David Jones.  "They raised $8,000.  Were hoping to raise $10,000 for this.  It's a national competition and all of its going to St. Jude's, 100 percent."

The winner of the raffle won't be announced until December, though the fair ends tonight you can still enter to win online at the Hook Magazine's website.
