Sussex Tech teachers are demanding resignation of school board members.

"Please step down"
Those were the words Sussex tech teachers said over and over to board members.
Three simple words that demand action fall-out from a 2017 state audit that uncovered some ethical and financial mis-steps.
And teachers say they've lost faith in the board and it's ability to lead the school system–after financial inconsistencies.
And they are frustrated those same board members – have not attended meetings and have refused to comment on these audit missteps.
Tony Varrato a Sussex Tech teacher said, “There’s a lack of trust.”
Ginni Forcucci, Delaware teacher of the year for 2018 said, “the board is supposed to model professionalism; the board is supposed to model commitment to this district; the board is supposed to behave in a way the reflect the districts commitment to kids, and when they don't do that we lack leadership."
The audit revealed that millions of taxpayer dollars were funneled to a private construction company called common sense solutions. Teachers say that money should have gone toward students.
Deborah Long another teacher said, “Money could have been much more well spent for the benefit of our students.”
Forcucci also said, "Because taxpayers money was misused-stolen essentially- teachers have paid the price."
So far there's no word yet if board members will step down, but teachers and staff say if they don't, their next step is to take their issues to state legislators
Varrato also said, "even if they don’t step down, we’re still gonna go on and do our job we’re still gonna do the best we can for the kids."
