Rate hikes, maintenance cuts made to balance town’s budget

The Town of Frankford has has been facing an economic shortfall and recently we told you that officials were forced to raise town's water rate.  Now the final decision has been made on the town's budget.

Kathy Murray, a member of the Budget Committee for Frankford, says the water rate increased for all residents from $8.75 per 1000 gallons to $12.68.  In addition, fees for those who are out of town limits, but use the town's water, will be going up from $20 to $50 every two months.

Officials also cut the maintenance to the water department to fully balance the budget.

We are told that the town council agrees that they would benefit from a town manager if they had the funds to make that happen.
