Police: Millsboro man arrested for firearm and drug possession

A 24-year-old Millsboro man has been arrested for weapon and drug-related charges after he was stopped for a traffic violation. 

The incident took place Friday at around 9:30 PM. 

According to reports, Devynne Hobbs was traveling northbound on South Dupont Boulevard near Old Laurel Road when he was stopped by Georgetown Police for speeding.

That is when police smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car of the driver. 

While speaking with the driver, officers learned there was a handgun concealed inside the car. A search was then conducted, which resulted in the recovery of a 9mm handgun, two loaded magazines, 9.38 grams of marijuana, 15.97 grams of cocaine and 1,992 dollars in cash. 

Hobbs was arrested for speeding, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance in a tier three quantity, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Hobbs was brought to Sussex Correctional Institution.
