Pocomoke officers build community relationships one bike ride at a time

Pocomoke Police is jumping into gear.
Officers are taking on the streets, but instead of in a patrol car they're hitting the pavement with bikes.
"We ride different times a day, different times at night," says Sergeant Rudell Brown.
The department has relaunched their bike program after it sat dormant for years.
"I think this is something that we should have brought back a while ago," Lit. Brian Craven.
The town has bought the department additional bikes and gear so more officers can hit the streets, but also help the department build it's presence in the community.
"I think it's important to have that interaction with the public. They can speak to us versus being in a car with the windows up.. they yell at us Officer Brown can I talk to your for a minute?" says Sergeant Brown.
"We can actually approach people, say hello out a human element and a name and a face and relationship behind the badge," says PFC Ian Castaneda.
