Man in critical condition after Del. shooting; investigation ongoing

A Delaware man is in critical condition after troopers say he was shot in the head earlier this week. 

Delaware State Police say on Monday, just before 11:44 PM, the Laurel Police Department with the assistance of Troop 5 patrol units responded to the area of the 200 building in Carvel Gardens Apartments for a shooting. Once on scene, authorities say they discovered an 18-year-old Laurel man on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.Troopers say the victim was taken to by ambulance to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and later flown to a local area hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Troopers say a second victim, 22-year-old male who fled the scene, was later identified at the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. DSP reports that the second victim suffered lacerations to his hand and face, and was treated and released.

According to the report, an altercation happened involving multiple subjects  in the area when the victim was then shot by an unknown suspect.

This incident remains under investigation by DSP.
