A man was arrested after deputies say he assaulted a woman in Salisbury.

The Wicomico County Sheriff Office says on Sunday, around 8:25 PM,  a deputy responded to a reported disturbance that happened in the 800 block of Monoa Boulevard. Once on scene, the deputy encountered a woman who reported that she was involved in an argument with 41-year-old Carlos Briddell inside the location when the argument turned physical.

According to the report, the victim reported that Briddell punched her with a closed fist and attempted to choke her. Authorities say they noticed signs of injury that supported the victim's account.

The Salisbury man was arrested and charged with assault second degree.

He was held without bond.
